Its never easy giving God permission to use our lives. And although he wants full control, he doesn’t expect us to give it to him. It’s a choice, part of our free will.
But giving it to God is NOT a bad thing. It cannot destroy you or your walk. It may hurt sometimes, but God grows us through our pain.
Giving it to God prevents more damage than handling it on your own. If you continue to try and let your emotions rule your heart, you’ll only end up miles away from His will. Give it to him, trust him and allow him to work his perfect will in your life and prevent more damage from human instinct.
Philippians 4:4-7 says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: REJOICE! Let you gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
One of the things that I’m actually starting to catch onto is letting God handle your storms. James says that we should consider the trials of life “pure joy” and frankly, it is hard for me to see that way some times. But when you think about it, God puts us through the storms so that we can learn to persevere and some day “not lack anything.”
What are we persevering for? The kingdom.
When we withstand a trial and as hard as it gets, continue looking to our Lord for strength and protection, we preserve. Because we don’t let the trial get the better of us.
So as simple as that sounds, when you go through a hard time in life, rather than dwelling on the problem and thinking and analyzing on it. Stop. Let it go. And look to God. When you’re reminded of His love and His sovereignty it makes you smile. It may take longer than a moment, but persevering and “giving it to God” will get much easier as we grow stronger and stronger in the Spirit.
Father, like Charles Swindoll reminds us, we should rejoice in the storms of life and I am trying hard to focus on You and rejoice in this storm. Its hard God but I am looking to you and I know that if my focus is your will, all things will fall into place. I am delightful in you God, please give me your desires in my heart. I love you Father, Protect me and Give me strength and shield me from the enemy in this storm. Its in your wonderful Son’s name that I pray, I love you. Amen.
