Tonight I sat in the midst of some wonderful women. Laughter, tears and love filled the room. These ladies are my #biblestudybffs.
When we first gathered in the summer of 2012, Jack was barely a year old. I had graduated from seminary the year before, days after having Jack, and prayed that God would bring me friends who loved Jesus with all of their hearts. That fall, I joined MOPS. And in this group, I fell in love with Jesus all over again.
We have walked a long journey with one another. We have huddled around each other in loss, pain, guilt, shame, you name it. We have laughed til our sides hurt, cried tears of joy and have many memories behind us.
“Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.” (Ecclesiastes 4:12) Our tapestries bound together create a cord that will never be broken – be it by distance, jobs or life changes. Our sisterhood will remain forever.
I imagine ourselves in twenty years, coming back together from wherever we may have gone…back to a living room, laughter ablaze and tears streaming down our faces as we remember our earlier season of motherhood. This is friendship. This is family.
We are One because we are in Him.
Max Lucado said once that Christians are to Christ as the moon is to the sun. We reflect His light. God, thank you for the light you shine through these women. They are your beauty reflected. And I will forever thank you for this season in my life. Amen.
